About Us

In the face of unimaginable grief of losing my only son to an unintentional drug overdose, I sought solace by attending support groups and therapies, desperately trying to navigate my own journey of loss. One day, overwhelmed with emotions, I felt an urge so powerful that I had to unleash a scream from the depths of my soul. Others who understood this need suggested the woods as a sanctuary as we had no place to unleash.  Little did I know, this experience would shape my path for years to come.

As time went on, I dedicated myself to aiding families, parents, and teenagers struggling with mental health and substance use issues both professionally as a psychiatric nurse and personally as a NYS addiction recovery coach. In our sessions, I witnessed a common thread among my clients: the longing to release that scream, the craving for self-care, and the importance of connection. It was then that I realized the need to create a space not just for myself, but for all those on their own life's journey.

And so, Dre's Safe Place was birthed.
